FAQ

Why is the sky above Teide so good?

The park sits above the cloud layer and above almost all the island's light, and lighting on Tenerife is restricted by law to protect the observatory at Izaña. Very few accessible places in Europe combine those things.

What is included?

Transport from the southern resorts, the sunset, a three-course dinner with drinks, and telescope stargazing at altitude near the cable car base station.

How cold does it get?

Cold. The base station is above 2,300 metres and the temperature after dark there is routinely fifteen degrees below the coast, and below freezing in winter. Bring more layers than seem reasonable when you leave.

Is it suitable for children?

Older children generally enjoy it. The combination of altitude, a late finish and a long drive makes it a poor choice for small ones.

Does the moon matter?

A great deal. A full moon washes out the fainter objects, and a new moon gives the best of it. If the date is flexible, checking the lunar calendar before booking is worth the minute.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Trips are moved or cancelled when cloud or wind makes the mountain unusable, which is the right outcome. Booking early in the stay leaves room to reschedule.
