FAQ

What does specialty coffee actually mean?

Beans scored above a threshold by trained tasters, bought with the origin known, and roasted for flavour rather than for shelf life. In practice it means the café can tell you which farm the coffee came from.

Does it roast on site?

The business operates as a roastery as well as a café, which is rare on the island. Most places here buy roasted beans from a wholesaler, so the coffee is a step further from the source.

How many branches are there?

Two: one in central Santa Cruz and one in La Laguna, the old university town in the hills above the capital. The two are about fifteen minutes apart by tram.

Is there food as well as coffee?

There is a bakery attached, so pastries and bread are made rather than bought in, and there is a substantial vegan list. That combination is hard to find elsewhere on the island.

Is it worth going out of the way for?

If you are already spending a day in Santa Cruz or La Laguna, yes. It is not worth an hour's drive from the southern resorts on its own, and nothing here would pretend otherwise.

How do I get from Santa Cruz to La Laguna?

The tram runs between the two frequently and takes around twenty minutes. It is one of the easiest journeys on the island and does not need a car at either end.
