That is the reason for including it: this is where people who live on the island buy helado, at prices set for them.

FAQ
Where is Los Realejos?
On the northern coast just west of Puerto de la Cruz, climbing the slope above it. It is one of the island's larger municipalities by population and almost entirely residential.
Is it worth going out of the way for?
Not as a destination on its own. It is worth knowing about if you are already in the north, driving between Puerto de la Cruz and Icod or coming down from the Orotava valley.
Why eat where residents eat?
Price, mostly, and consistency. A business that depends on the same customers every week through a long winter cannot coast on passing trade the way a seafront counter can.
What is helado artesanal?
Ice cream made in small batches on the premises rather than from an industrial base. It is the standard term in Spain and the thing to look for on a sign.
How far is it from the southern resorts?
About an hour and a half by motorway, going round the eastern side of the island. The north and the south are effectively two different places and the drive between them is the price of seeing both.
What else is nearby?
The Orotava valley above, Puerto de la Cruz below, and the coast road west towards Icod de los Vinos and Garachico. It is a good base for a day spent in the north rather than a stop in itself.
